How to unlock your phone free with US Cellular

If your phone qualifies, US Cellular may unlock it for you at no cost. Ask them first. This guide explains the usual rules and steps in plain English. Rules change, so check your carrier's current policy on the official page.

Who usually qualifies

Steps

  1. Find your IMEI: dial *#06# on the phone, or look in Settings under About phone.
  2. Check the list above. If anything is not met yet (for example a remaining balance), sort that out first.
  3. Open the US Cellular official unlock page (link below), or call or chat with US Cellular support and ask for a device unlock.
  4. Give them the IMEI and your account details. Write down any request or ticket number.
  5. Wait for US Cellular to confirm. Then put in a SIM card from another carrier and restart the phone.
  6. If the phone still asks for a code or says the SIM is not supported, contact the carrier with your ticket number.
